The most interesting part of Uta Barth's work is how she uses out-of-focus subjects/areas to create questions within the viewer. Her blurred images allow the viewer to interpret where the image might have been taken or why the image was taken. In the future, I hope to create more abstract images by using this blur and create more thought-provoking images for the viewer.

Comment on another students blog: "I think your presentation was very informative and interesting. Your presentation was very thoughtful and utilized Chapter 4 very well. Sam Taylor Woods work Still life stood out to me the most in the images you presented. I liked how her work showed what happened to the fruit as time went on. It reminded me of the work the photographer I chose did, Uta Barth. I also liked the variety that Sam Taylor Woods photographs. The still life and then the celebrities were both beautifully captured."

Mia Baird - Hello Erin,

I really enjoyed your presentation on Uta Barth and feel like I now have a better understanding of her photography. You effectively used what we learned from the criticizing photography module to provide insight into the photographer, the pictures she captured, and the overall significance of her work. Great job explaining each picture and how her work differs from the work of other photographers. I’ll have to look more into her pictures, as I am now interested in the abstraction she captures using exposure and focus.

Hi Erin! I really like your presentatio on Uta Barth. I think you do a good job of showcasing the variety in her work. I find her every day collection really interesting to view. It makes me feel almost uneasy at the emptiness in the photographs. Uta Barth's work helped me feel more comofrtable experimenting with photography; not everything needs to be in focus to be meaningful and it is ok to experiment. I definitely want to try experimenting with out-of-focus shots in the future.
