Multimodal Presentation

Synopsis of Presentation: Uta Barth is a contemporary photographer known for her explorations of perception and the nature of vision. Born in 1958 in Berlin, Germany, she moved to the United States in the late 1970s. Her photography has been exhibited internationally and is included in major collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York. She uses extended exposure times and out-of-focus subjects/areas to push boundaries and create abstract images like those in her Fields collection and in passing collection. These images create philosophical questions about reality for the viewers.

Change in Perception: Uta Barth's work helped me to realize that you can photograph nature and landscapes and still push boundaries and create questions within the viewers. In the past, I mostly photographed wildlife and nature, but now I can think more abstractly when taking photos and utilize the knowledge of her work to help me take more inspiring and thought-provoking photos.
